Sarah Jessica Parker has already made her Sex and the City alter-ego proud in launching a successful footwear line, SJP Collection, and now she’s expanding the range so stylish brides can say “I do” in the 50-year-old’s shoes.
The new designs see Sarah Jessica putting a high fashion spin on traditional wedding shoes, with everything from lace patterned heels to a pair of stilettos with a teal ribbon trim down the back for a bride’s ‘something blue’.
The mother-of-three herself defied wedding traditions for her 1997 wedding to Matthew Broderick, where she wore a black dress with teal velvet Robert Clergerie shoes. However, she revealed in a recent interview that nowadays she would favour a more classic look.
“If I were getting married today, I’d likely wear cream, just to have that bridal experience," She told Martha Stewart Weddings. "Now I would want my dress to have an Oscar de la Renta feel, pockets below the waist, a very fitted bodice, a huge skirt, in taffeta or duchesse satin. That silhouette appeals to me because it’s old-fashioned yet can look very modern."
The style icon did have some fashion advice for brides-to-be when it comes to picking a wedding dress.
“Resist the temptation to go straight to a favourite silhouette and instead rule nothing out,” she suggests. “When getting ready for an important occasion, I will try almost anything on and very often end up being completely surprised.”
It’s been a busy few months for Sarah Jessica, who has been working hard to continue to build her shoe empire. The blonde beauty recently revealed that her SJP Collection would be stocked at iconic department store Bloomingdales in New York.
“Pinch me, I’m dreaming,” the actress wrote on the Instagram account for her shoe line. "After months and months of sworn secrecy, I can finally shout the news from the rooftop. Or even better, from the iconic @bloomingdales awning.
“Welcome to New York, @sjpcollection. You’re going to love it here. Finally, a permanent home in NYC.”
