Summer 2015 bridal trends: Expert tips and advice for your wedding day

Whether you’re the bride who wants to keep things traditional or you laugh in the face of convention, one thing is certain: in the countdown to your big day, advice is always welcome. That’s particularly true for brides who feel dazed navigating the plethora of bridal fashion and beauty trends.

“For brides that are overwhelmed, look at a bunch of magazines to figure out what you like,” says Jessica Mulroney, the public relations and marketing manager of the bridal boutique Kleinfeld at Hudson’s Bay. “Get an idea of what’s going to work for you and how you want to style your look.” She also advises enlisting the help of someone who can make your vision a reality.

Even red-carpet veterans like Reese Witherspoon and Anne Hathaway consulted their favourite designers for help crafting their looks – that would be Monique Lhuillier (read insights from Monique here!) and Valentino, respectively. Chelsea Clinton relied on the wisdom of industry expert Bryan Rafanelli to fine-tune every detail of her big day.

“We're taught that we don't want to regret what we wear – no one wants to look back on their wedding photos in a bad way,” says Jessica. “ People want to think of the shots as timeless.” But it can be hard to navigate the ever-evolving idea of what’s en vogue for “I dos.” The key, she adds, is to simply do you.

Trends are meant to inspire and adopt in our own individual way,” say the beauty gurus at Gee Beauty. “The brides we always gush over are the ones who truly looked like themselves – radiant, glowing and naturally glamorous.” Their examples include the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Moss, Gwen Stefani and Cindy Crawford. “You want a look that’s the perfect mix of modern and timeless,” they add.
