Rihanna photo with slow loris leads to arrests of Thai poachers

A seemingly-innocuous photo of Rihanna posing with a cuddly creature may have helped protect an exotic species.

Taking a break from her “Diamonds World Tour” to vacation in Thailand, Rihanna shared a photo of herself posing with a slow loris in a nightclub in Phuket.

She captioned the snap, “Look who was talkin dirty to me! #Thailand#nightlife.”

After Thai police were notified of the picture, they raided the area and arrested two men, aged 16 and 20, in connection with peddling the protected primates.

The slow loris is native to Southeast Asia, but received international attention after several videos of the adorable animal went viral on YouTube.

With its big eyes and docile nature, the cute little primate has become trendy as a pet, but trade of the animal is highly illegal, not to mention cruel. Slow lorises are often mishandled by their owners, who remove their poisonous teeth with pliers -- risking infection and death.

Thai citizens are not only prohibited from selling and trading the endangered species, but also from charging tourists money to take photos with them.

Following her trip to Thailand, Rihanna headed off to Singapore, where she performed Sunday. She's set to perform in Australia this evening.
