Leighton Meester will make Broadway debut in 'Of Mice and Men' with James Franco and Chris O'Dowd

New engagement, new gig: 2014 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for Leighton Meester.

Fresh off announcing her plans to wed boyfriend and actor Adam Brody, the former Gossip Girl star has been cast in a theatrical remake of Of Mice and Men.

Starring opposite James Franco (George) and Chris O’Dowd (Lennie), the play tells the tale of two migrant field workers who help each other through the Great Depression. The play, based off a novella of the same name, hasn't been staged on Broadway in more than 40 years.

Leighton, 27, will play ranch -owner Curley’s wife, a beautiful temptress who attracts the duo and incurs the wrath of her husband.

The play begins performances on March 19 through to July 27 at the Longacre theatre in New York City.
