Victoria Beckham on Spice Girls reunion: 'I just wanted to be elsewhere'

The Spice Girls may have launched her to superstardom, but Victoria Beckham says she’s done spicing up her life for good.

The mother of four admits that she knew her “Posh” days were over when she reunited with bandmates Mel B, Mel C, Emma and Geri for a whirlwind tour five years ago.

"I realized it was finished for good in 2008, when we reformed for our reunion tour," the 39-year-old said. “It should have been the best moment of my life, but I just wanted to be elsewhere.”

The girl group disbanded in 2000, but came together for a wildly popular reunion before performing at the London summer Olympics in 2012.

At the time, Victoria had three children and a burgeoning fashion line to worry about.

"It wasn't a lack of respect for the girls or the audience, but the passion just wasn't there," she explains. "By contrast, in my new career, the passion grows every year. I still want more."

The style icon also admits that her Posh alter ego was a persona she invented as a way to mask her insecurities.

"I looked moody. But I wasn't! I was shy, not very sure of myself," she says.

"I had to invent a character and I thought of that: staring at people and pouting," she continues.

Since leaving the Spice Girls and marrying soccer star David Beckham, Victoria has become a well-respected figure in the fashion industry, staging catwalk shows in London, Paris and New York and dressing Hollywood’s hottest names.
