Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton split after nine years of marriage

Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton have decided to separate after more than nine years of marriage.

The Canadian/American singer and his actress wife released a joint statement on Monday, Feb. 24, explaining the decision: "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

The couple, who met when Robin was just 14 years old, were wed in 2005. They welcomed a son, Julian Fuego Thicke, in April 2010.

Robin, 36, had previously described his relationship with Paula, 38, as "the greatest love of the century, and the most functional, dysfunctional marriage in Hollywood."
