But things seem to be progressing well for the loved-up pair, who were spotted enjoying a dinner date with friends in London on Monday.
The 38-year-old actress took her partner out to dinner with two other very important men in her life right now. One was her two-year-old son Jackson, while her Million Ways to Die in the West co-star Seth MacFarlane also joined them for the meal at Roka restaurant in London.
The blonde beauty was seen smiling as she strapped her little boy into his car seat following their dining experience. While introducing your child to a romantic partner might be daunting for some single parents, for Charlize perhaps not, as she and 53-year-old Sean have known each other for 18 years.
It was not until New Year’s Eve that the couple made their relationship public as they enjoyed a holiday in Hawaii. The South African star saw the outing a casual trip and dressed accordingly in a plain white T-shirt and black trousers and peeptoe heels.
Meanwhile her actor beau donned a checked shirt, leather jacket, corduroy trousers and boots. Speaking about her blossoming romance, Charlize recently said: “We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless.”
“It just kind of naturally happened, and before I knew it, I was in something that was making my life better – the people who really love me can see the effect it has had on me.”
Charlize adopted Jackson in March 2012. "I’ve always known I wanted a family," she said at the time, before joking, “I don’t think my mom could wait any more!”
Charlize also revealed that her mother found a letter Charlize had written to her as a little girl.
“It said, 'Would you please take me to an orphanage, so that I can go and adopt a baby?,” recalled the South African beauty, adding: “I always knew I would adopt. Always.”
