Diary of the Week: Night at the Castle, Mulberry's fete and Night at the Green Barn

By Amoryn Engel

Historic Casa Loma set the magnificent stage for A Night at the Castle: the 14th annual fundraising gala presented by The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Trust. The scene was quite grand as perfectly coiffed patrons took part in betting at the Club Casino, posing it up at the Selfie Photo Parlour and renewing vows "Vegas Style" at the Cherub’s Chapel of Love. Over $500,000 was raised for The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to help finance state-of-the-art treatment and research.

Fashion plate Sylvia Mantella invited fellow philanthropists and fashionistas to the Mulberry store on Bloor Street for a preview AW14 Trunk Show to benefit The Sick Kids Foundation. It was a shopping frenzy that even attracted supermodel Coco Rocha, who made a special appearance! Hot of the heels of attending the CFDA Awards in New York City, she stopped by her hometown of Toronto just to support the event.

Food aficionados came out in force for the 5th annual Big Night at the Green Barn to benefit the Stop Community Food Centre in Toronto. The Wychwood Barns provided the incredible backdrop for the magnificent four-course dinner, prepared by some of Toronto's favourite chefs. The meal was inspired by classic Italian home cooking, much to the delight of more than 300 guests who devoured every last bite. Delicioso!
