Diary of the Week: Thompson Toronto rooftop, VITAMIN A fashion show and La Hora Azul launch

By Amoryn Engel and Jessica Pollack

What could be better than hitting the rooftop on a hot summer's night at the Thompson Toronto Hotel while overlooking the city's skyline. The ultimate scenesters and tastemakers took the party sky-high as the Thompson debuted its re-imagined rooftop patio. Delicious new summer cocktails were on offer along with a sampling of small bites from the French-inspired menu at the new Colette Grand Cafe, in advance of the restaurant’s grand opening in the hotel this summer. We can hardly wait!

You know that when the folks at the Shangri-La Hotel throw a party, you should expect the unexpected. Recently, an exclusive group of influencers were ushered up to the fifth floor, after the award-winning pool was transformed for the hotel’s first ever fashion show. Leggy models were literally walking on water as they strutted down the pool-turned-runway in barely there bathing suits and bikinis. Guests were buzzing following the debut of the latest collection from VITAMIN A, and designer Amahlia Steven, presented in partnership with Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie. It was all quite a splash!

With a bevy of inventive cocktails inspired by major global cities, endless hand-rolled cigars courtesy of Frank Correnti and tequila-drenched nibbles, guests were bound for a good time at the launch of Don Good Tequila's La Hora Azul, Blue Hour at Casa Loma. The Canadian company works with a co-op of 300 blue agave farmers. "The party felt a bit like Downton Abbey meets Entourage," says host and Hello! columnist Shinan Govani. "What's exciting, in particular, is that this is an entirely Canadian-driven enterprise - plus, the bottles are so fashionable, they look like Tom Ford fragrances."
