Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, will be staying at the swanky Carlyle Hotel on Madison Avenue during their stay in New York City next week, People magazine is reporting.
It’s little surprise that the royal couple have chosen the luxurious Manhattan lodging for their highly anticipated American tour. The luxury residential hotel is where William’s mother, Princess Diana, stayed whenever she visited the Big Apple. Prince Charles, too, has checked into the A-list abode.
In fact, the New York landmark and has many famous residents and stories. Every American president since Harry S. Truman has visited the glamorous Art Deco establishment, which also famous hangout of John F. Kennedy Jr. – he was even there having breakfast that fateful morning before his tragic plane crash.
In addition, the Carlyle is a celebrity hotspot that has been oft-frequented by stars like Mick Jagger, Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham, and was most recently the home of Broadway legend Elaine Strich.
William and Kate are in New York City starting Dec. 7 and like most tourists, they have a jam-packed schedule. William will travel to Washington, D.C. for a day to champion his United for Wildlife campaign, reportedly returning to the city in time to see a Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers NBA match.
