Jennifer Aniston talks divorce from Brad Pitt: 'I don't find it painful'

As one of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt shocked fans around the world when they split in 2005 after five blissful years together. Now, the happily engaged actress says she is completely at peace with their divorce, despite it still coming up in interviews almost 10 years on.

“I don’t find it painful,” Jennifer, 45, replied when asked about her divorce, and the attention it still receives, on CBS Sunday Morning. “I think it’s a narrative that follows you because it’s an interesting headline. It’s more of a media-driven topic.”

The actress even revealed that the former couple do still talk – although not on a regular basis. “We’ve exchanged good wishes and all that sort of stuff to each other,” she said. “But it’s not a constant thing.”

Jennifer has been dating Justin Theroux for the past three years; the couple announced their engagement in August 2012. With her love life continuing to be the focus of so much media interest, Jennifer and her fiancé have found a way to deal with the constant speculation. “We know what our truth is,” the star explained. “That’s all just static.”

Instead, the couple focus on the positive events in each other’s lives, including Jennifer’s notable performance in Cake, which has earned her Golden Globe and SAG nominations.

“I really was just ready to disappear and really go into the depths of a character,” she said of the independent drama, in which she plays a woman suffering from chronic pain and battling an addiction to painkillers.

“It feels like there’s some page about to turn, and it could just be the closing of a book, or it could be a new chapter. Who knows? I just know that for me personally, I did something for myself that was important.
