Bobbi Kristina Brown never married Nick Gordon

Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is fighting for her life after she was found unconscious in her home this week. Meanwhile, her family has moved to refute claims that she is married, saying that Bobbi never tied the knot.

Her father, Bobby Brown, said the 21-year-old did not wed boyfriend Nick Gordon as she led everyone to believe last year.

The rapper released a statement through his lawyer Christopher Brown saying: "We are currently investigating the events that led to the hospitalisation of Bobbi Kristina.

“To correct earlier reports, Bobbi Kristina is not and has never been married to Nick Gordon.”

The relationship between Bobbi and her beau sparked controversy because it was believed that late superstar Whitney had informally adopted Nick was he was 12. However, the aspiring young singer later spoke out to say, he was not adopted and her mother had in fact encouraged them to date.

He was on hand to comfort her when her mother died in 2012 in the run up to the Grammys. The prospect of the 3rd anniversary on 11 February had been troubling the iconic performer’s daughter.

On Saturday, Nick found Bobbi passed out in the bath tub at the home the couple share in Atlanta, Georgia. She was taken to North Fulton Hospital where doctors put her into a medically induced coma. Since then she’s been breathing with the aid of a ventilator.

On Tuesday, Bobbi was moved to the larger Emory University hospital for further treatment. For the last few days, Krissi, as she’s known within the family, has been surrounded by relatives from both sides. They have been supporting her father, who is so upset “he can hardly put one foot in front of the other” and telling their girl stories to try to simulate a response.

“If she’s in there somewhere, we want her to hear us,” a family member told People magazine. “We keep it positive. We tell her that God loves her, that we love her. That America is praying for her and that everyone loves her.”
