Scott Disick enters rehab to 'truly remedy this struggle'

Scott Disick’s struggles with addiction have been explored with his long-term partner, Kourtney Kardashian, on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and the 31-year-old has made the brave decision to enter rehab in Costa Rica. Scott said in a statement: “I realize my issues are bigger than me and I’m ready to truly remedy this struggle I continue to battle.”

Scott’s decision comes after a weekend out in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He will reportedly stay at the Rythmia Life Advancement Center on the island, where, as reported by TMZ, he will undergo “Iboga treatment, which involves roots from a small African tree that supposedly helps people battle addiction”.

Kourtney and Scott have three children together, recently welcoming their third, a little boy, in December.

It has been a difficult year for Scott, who is known for his partying ways and has seen them documented in the E! reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Scott’s struggles with sobriety have gotten worse since he lost his mother, Bonnie, and father, Jeffrey, within months of each in 2013 and 2014. “The whole family is so devastated and Scott is beside himself,” a source told E! News at the time of Jeffrey’s death. “Scott is an only child with no remaining family.”

He then upset Kourtney with his stunned reaction to her pregnancy news which was shown on the E! reality show, before later coming round to the idea, saying he needed to “relax and enjoy the third time around” and adding that the other children had been “an amazing blessing”.

In June, Scott was treated in hospital for alcohol poisoning after he joined friends for his belated birthday celebrations, and later in the year, in November, Scott revealed to a friend: “I’ve gone over this in my head so many times to try to live a cleaner life, and for some reason I just keep going back to the same routine.”

The confession came during an episode of the spin-off show Kourtney and Khloe Take The Hamptons, for which Scott moved to the New England town with Kourtney and their children in an attempt to regroup.

He added: “I’ve pretty much become a broken record. And I’m sick of hearing myself talk about the problems I have that I don’t fix.”
