Alyssa Milano fumes at Heathrow airport for confiscating her breast milk

Mother-of-two Alyssa Milano is sounding off on social media after her breast milk was thrown away during a routine security check at Heathrow Airport this week. The 42-year-old actress, who gave birth to daughter Elizabella Dylan seven months ago, voiced her frustrations on Twitter after her breast milk was thrown away before boarding a plane in London.

“@HeathrowAirport just took my pumped breast milk away. 10 ounces. Gone. Not okay,” Alyssa, wrote.

She added: "They said they would let the pumped milk through if I had the baby with me. Why would I need to pump if I had the baby with me????"

Heathrow responded to the actress via Twitter, writing: “Hi Alyssa. Unfortunately, without a baby present, the government requires all liquids in carry-ons to follow the 100ml rule."

But the Mistresses star was having none of it. She countered: "I would have happily spread milk in different containers (which I travel with) to comply to those liquid rules. Instead, milk was taken away with no discussion. Shampoos, lotions, etcetera were simply tested and handed back with no issue. Makes no sense at all."

The airport, meanwhile, referred her to the UK’s government website, which cites its policies on hand luggage restrictions at UK airports, including breast milk.

“PS. Another reason it makes no sense - when I got past security it was time to pump again so... I did carry on 5 ounces of breast milk,” Alyssa finally added.

The incident with the breast milk occurred nine hours after the star had tweeted, “ Pumping on a plane is difficult. Small FYI.”

The actress has long been an outspoken advocate for mothers everywhere, campaigning for the ability to breastfeed in public and decrying the pressure put on women to lose the baby weight fast.

"I love my stretch marks. I have them on my boobs, my [bum] and on my belly," told The View earlier this month, prompting cheers from the audience.

Alyssa and her husband, Davdi Bugliari, also have a son, three-year-old Milo Thomas.
