Robert Downey Jr shares first photo of baby Avri

Five-month-old Avri Downey has made her debut! Proud dad Robert Downey Jr. made an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman on Thursday night (April 23), where he shared the first photo of his baby girl with the world.

"I have three [children]: a 21-year-old, Indio, a three-year-old, Exton, and now Avri is a little over five months,” he said. “I thought I'd show the first picture on planet earth here with you, kind sir.”

With his daughter's sweet face flashing on the screen, the actor teased, "The yellow bonnet helps! You got to love a yellow bonnet," while the audience cooed and clapped.

David replied, "She's beautiful."

Robert revealed back in July that he and wife Susan Downey were expecting a baby girl. “Yo. Susan. Me. Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?” he wrote on Twitter.

He took to social media again by writing on his Facebook page. “Um. I don’t know if it’s a ‘man’s world’, but I’m certain women run it,” Robert wrote. “Susan and I are therefore delighted to announce we are expecting a baby. Girl. November.”

Robert seemed to be in good spirits during the David Letterman interview, in which he described the lavish 50th birthday party he threw for himself recently. (The actor celebrated the milestone on April 4.)

“It was kind of a big deal. I'm not going to do this many more times. I threw a big party for myself,” he said, revealing that he had booked two of his favourite bands for the fête: Duran Duran and Steely Dan.

Robert’s Late Show appearance comes hot on the heels of a decidedly less successful interview earlier on in the week with Krishnan Guru-Murthy, in which the Channel 4 presenter attempted to ask the Iron Man star about his "dark periods.”

Robert eventually walked out on the interview, but not before calling Krishnan a “ schmuck.”
