Lewis Hamilton's Monaco model pep squad includes Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner

The biggest rumour on the Riviera is that Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has driven model Gigi Hadid straight into his arms, ever since the two were seated together at the glamorous amfAR gala during the Cannes Film Festival. Along with a gaggle of girlfriends that included Kendall Jenner, Gigi turned up at the Monaco Grand Prix to cheer on her new beau.

We love you @lewishamilton. Everyone knows you da champ. #TEAMLH

Wearing caps emblazoned with the logo of his team, Mercedes, the bevy of catwalk queens crowded round 30-year-old Lewis for some selfies in the pit lane. Gigi, 20, posted one shot with the caption: “We love you @lewishamilton. Everyone knows you da champ. #TEAMLH.”

Her 18-year-old sister Bella echoed the sentiment posting her own tribute, in which the girls held up one finger to the camera. “You’re #1 in our book…and every other book ever.”

Gigi, the daughter of Palestinian businessman Mohammed Hadid and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster, gave Lewis an affectionate embrace as she arrived with her friends.

The American beauty has been making waves on the fashion scene in the last three years. She’s landed campaigns for Maybelline, Guess and Pirelli and appeared at fashion shows for labels such as Chanel and Marc Jacobs. Her little sister is also a much sought after model. As is Hailey Baldwin, daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin, who had also joined in the fun.

The handsome sportsman seemed to be enjoying all the love coming his way, describing the girls on his own Instagram accounts as “the crew”. It’s not known if any romance has got off the starting grid.

However, the talk surrounding them isn’t that surprising as both Gigi and Lewis are now free agents. She recently ended her relationship with Australian singer Cody Simpson, while the charismatic Brit is no longer with Nicole Scherzinger.

Unfortunately the sizzling supporters didn’t make the difference to the result. Lewis came in third due to a technical error by his team, halving his lead in the championship to ten points over his nearest rival Nico Rosberg.
