Social Diary: Scrubs in the City at the Evergreen Brickworks

With the lush Evergreen Brickworks as its playground, the 2015 Scrubs in the City fundraiser for SickKids (a.k.a The Hospital for Sick Children) welcomed 900 well-heeled guests for an evening of entertainment, fine food and runway fashion.

The theme was Tokyo 2015, and the far-off city was felt - from the fluttering origami cranes that acted as the evening's mascots to the wardrobe choices of decked-out guests (Sylvia Mantella and Suzanne Rogers were so on-point in Asian prints while Cheryl Hickey wore trendy origami folds to perfection) and delicious Japanese-inspired nibbles by the Food Dudes.

Suspended from the ceiling, aerialists were decked out in cartoon headpieces (think: Japan's iconic, bow-clad Hello Kitty) while Harajuku-worthy performers peppered the room among planters filled with cherry blossoms. An electric runway performance was the icing on the evening's entertainment.

But the greatest success of the night was the $500,000 raised to help fund the purchase of a new MRI machine. Next year, London comes calling…
