From Beyoncé to Ashton: 10 lavish celebrity splurges

By Sarah Kelsey

In honour of National Splurge Day (June 18), we've been thinking like an A-lister and pondering what we'd do with millions of dollars - and it seems the possibilities are endless. Splurging on trips around the world; gifting everyone you love with a Rolex; or taking a cue from Hollywood stars.

Take, for example, Fergie and Patrick Dempsey – they’re two famous faces who have spent a small fortune fulfilling secret passions. For her, it was opening a winery – Ferguson Crest Wines – in California; for him, investing in Seattle-based coffee chain Tully’s.

Then there are celebrities like Sandra Bullock, Blake Lively and power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who spend their savings on grand purchases for their pads.

Sandra has been amassing an enviable collection of art for her now-five-year-old son, Louis, though she's not actually responsible for his most valuable piece to date. It was the Gravity star's agents who purchased an Andy Warhol painting for $14,000 as a gift for the tot's bedroom, but the lavish present was for a good cause as it was purchased at the amfAR Inspiration Gala's auction.

When Gossip Girl star Blake moved in with her Canadian husband, Ryan Reynolds, the passionate cook's biggest splurge was on an ocean-blue La Cornue range, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

And as far as gifting is concerned, Brad and Angelina have most couples beat. The actor reportedly lavished his wife with $250,000 worth of diamonds on a shopping spree in Hong Kong in 2013, a year after the Maleficent star is said to have purchased a $1-million helicopter for her honey.
