Caitlyn Jenner arrived at a Pride event in New York City to a sea of cheers, as fans welcomed the newly transitioned 65-year-old to the Dream Downtown hotel. Caitlyn and six friends hit the rooftop lounge to watch Candis Cayne’s DayDream show.
“Everyone started chanting, ‘Caitlyn, Caitlyn’,” one party-goer told E! News. “She got up and waved and smiled at everyone.”
Singer Candis got the chance to say hello to Caitlyn while the reality star was filming on the balcony for her new show,I Am Cait. During her set, Candis spoke about getting to know Caitlyn and dedicated the song I Am Woman to her. “Everyone was cheering and then Caitlyn got up and took some selfies,” the source added.
Caitlyn looked glamorous for the event – hosted by Voss Events – wearing a white peplum dress and her hair in loose curls around her shoulders. It was a big appearance for the star, who has kept a little under the radar since making her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair in June.
Fans will get a fascinating insight into her life post-transition thanks to upcoming show I Am Cait, which premieres on 26 July, and as time passes Caitlyn will no doubt increase her public outings.
“I’m just going to live life. I’m going to go enjoy life. I have nothing left to hide. I am kind of a free person, a free soul,” Caitlyn said during her Vanity Fair interview. “(Up) to this point I would wear, you know, Bruce would wear, you know, sweatshirts with hoods on them so paparazzi can’t get pictures and I didn’t want them to see if my fingernails were polished or, you know, on and on and on. It was hell.
“To be able to wake up in the morning, be yourself, get dressed, get ready to go out, and just be like a normal person – that’s a wonderful feeling to go through life.”
