Prepare to melt! Ben Affleck arrived in Atlanta on Monday (July 20) and disembarked a private plane with a new family member in tow - an adorable, fluffy golden retriever puppy. As the father of three cradled his newest baby, he was clearly eager to get the pup home to Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6 and three-year-old Samuel.
The adoption comes on the heels of Ben and wife Jennifer Garner's June 30 announcement that they would be splitting as a couple after ten years of marriage. The 42-year-old was dressed down in a hoodie, t-shirt and baseball cap for the journey, which has been in the making since May, when Us reported that the couple had taken their daughters to a pet shelter to see the adoptable dogs.
Jennifer and the couple's children, who are on summer break, are spending time in Atlanta as the actress, 43, films Miracles From Heaven, a drama based on the book by Christy Beam. They've been spotted shopping around town and spending time at the local country club.
Ben has been busy promoting his new film, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, stopping in at San Diego's star-studded Comic-Con last week with costars Henry Cavill and Amy Adams - and his wedding band still on. The actor had just returned from the Bahamas, where he and Jennifer took some time with their family away from the media frenzy that followed their divorce announcement.
"He's devastated," a source told People at the time of the announcement. "They both battled, and he really battled to try and save the marriage but ultimately it was the best thing for the kids and for him and Jen." But as the couple has supported each other in the months leading up to their split, with Jennifer patting Ben's back proudly as he delivered a speech at a US Senate hearing in March, they are sure to maintain a united front and amicable relationship for the sake of their children.
And their new puppy, too!
