David Beckham surprises cancer patient Andy Moss with a visit

David Beckham heard the call of one of his fans and made his dream come true, surprising Andy Moss with a surprise visit. Andy, who has stage four cancer, got the sports star’s attention courtesy of a video in which he shared that meeting David is on his bucket list.

Andy’s wife Leyla pulled out all the stops to help make her husband’s dream come true, posting social media with the hashtag #AndyWantsToMeetDavidBeckham – and on Tuesday, the kind-hearted footballer happily obliged.

David went along to meet Andy, Leyla and their two children David and Mia while in the US – and he wasn’t alone, the 40-year-old brought along his own wife Victoria Beckham and eldest son Brooklyn Beckham, who shared a photo of their get-together on Instagram.

Leyla also shared a photo of her family with the British icon. “For those of you who don’t know about my husband Andy, he has stage 4 cancer and he made a YouTube video to @davidbeckham telling him that one of his bucket list wishes was meeting him.

“Simon his manager made all of the arrangements and he helped us with Andy’s dream. We met David and his family including beautiful and sweet @victoriabeckham and @brooklynbeckham treated us like if we were family.

“They paid all of our travel expenses and they are even sending us out for dinner. We will never forget this experience, I am shaking still. The Beckhams truly are wonderful people!

Andy has been battling a rare form of cancer since Christmas 2013, and has undergone 40 chemotherapy treatments, 25 radiations, two bone marrow transplants and two rounds of majoy surgery.

In his appeal to David on Ellen DeGeneres’ website, he said: “It has been a dream of mine to meet David Beckham ever since I became a soccer fan while serving a mission for my church in Mexico in 2003… around the time he signed for Real Madrid.

I know it’s a long shot, but I think if everyone peppers FB with this post, along with Ellen’s page we may be able to make it happen.”

He added: “I know it’s 100 per cent selfish, and it may not make a lot of sense to a lot of people, but he has been a big role model for me in the short time I’ve been following him. Meeting him would be the icing on the cake to the example he’s inadvertently been in my life.”
