Eva Mendes on daughter Esmeralda's name and her concerns about 'bouncing back'

Eva Mendes and longtime love Ryan Gosling turned to a classic tale for inspiration when it came time to name their daughter, born on Sept. 13 2014. “We loved the Hunchback of Notre Dame,” revealed Eva during a sit down on The Wendy Williams Show. “Esmeralda just kept coming back to us. And it’s actually a very popular Latin name so it was easy for my father and certain family members who still don’t speak English to pronounce. So that was a good selling point.”

Looking fabulous in one of her own designs from her collaboration with New York and Company, the 41-year-old star also opened up about the pressures put on women to lose baby weight. “ I feel like we can be really hard on each other,” she said. “The whole term ‘bounce back after pregnancy’ – I don’t like that terminology.” And even though some women are back in their bikinis weeks after giving birth, Eva admitted, ‘that wasn’t me. I just feel like we as women need to support each other and however long it takes.”

Actress and designer Eva chatted with Wendy Williams about motherhood and post-pregnancy fitness.

And when to comes to being a working mom, Eva told Wendy that she manages to do it all with help from her supportive family. “I don’t technically have a nanny, but I do have help,” she revealed, adding, “I’m certainly not anti-nannies. You do what you need to do as a parent. But I’m so grateful that I have help from my family and [Ryan’s] family.”
