Emily Blunt plays an extremely tough agent in her new film, Sicario, but conversation recently turned to a more vulnerable topic – her love life – when she stopped by Sirius XM to chat with Howard Stern and promote the movie. With great poise and tact, the actress fielded questions about her former romance with Canadian crooner Michael Bublé as the host posited that they had been "perfect together.”
“I don’t know if I was perfect with him,” the 32-year-old said with a laugh. “But we had a good time.” Howard continued by relating a story of how Michael had brought Emily home to his family, and his mother had said: “You’d better marry that girl.”
“I loved his family, I still do. I love his family,” the star replied. But the radio host still wasn’t done – he went on to bring up rumours that Michael had been unfaithful to Emily during their three romance.
“I don’t know. It’s complicated,” Emily said, while laughing. “Now I’m going red because I never talk about it. I never want to talk about it.”
Emily and Michael, 40, split in 2008 – and both have since moved from their high-profile relationship. The English star married The Office actor John Krasinski in 2010, and the couple are proud parents to 19-month-old daughter Hazel.
The singer admitted in a candid interview in March on Canadian entertainment show eTalk that he’d been “a jerk” in his past relationships.
Without specifically naming Emily he said, “I was careless and reckless with the hearts of women I was with. And I got my karma. I earned it.”
Saying that the way he acted was “so cringe-y,” Michael added, “I got my butt and heart kicked and it hurt me enough that I looked in the mirror and I didn’t want it to happen again. If I wanted to be a happy guy and really fall in love, I would have to love myself.”
