Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt get candid with ‘Vogue'

By Sarah Kelsey

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt give a candid glimpse into their family life in the November issue of Vogue. The A-listers and their brood of children – Maddox, 14, Pax, 11, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, 9, and seven-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox – share the spotlight in a stunning editorial spread.

An incredible shot of the 40-year-old actress covers the issue. Wearing an oversized, off-the-shoulder black-and-white sweater, the star looks relaxed as she poses on a beach with smoky eyes and windswept hair.

Then there are the images of the Jolie-Pitt clan at play against the same backdrop. There's one shot of the family dressed up in costumes running along the shoreline, and another with everyone prepped for rides on motorbikes and ATVs. The heartwarming pictures were captured by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Accompanying the stunning and candid snaps is a rare, in-depth interview with Angelina, writer and director of By the Sea. The film will be the first time she and her hubby have shared the screen since Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

“This is the only film I’ve done that is completely based on my own crazy mind," she tells the magazine. "As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones… Just being raw actors. It’s not the safest idea. But life is short.”

Angelina goes on to discuss the family's unique lifestyle; the kids are homeschooled by teachers of different backgrounds and religions, and everyone is well-travelled. “We travel often to Asia, Africa, Europe, where they were born.”

She also opens up about her recent double mastectomy, saying, “I feel grounded as a woman. My mother and my grandmother started dying in their 40s. I’m 40. I can’t wait to hit 50 and know I made it.”
