George Clooney and his wife of a year, Amal, share a love of animals that had led to an ever-growing brood in Los Angeles. After a trip to the nearby San Gabriel Valley Humane Society, the couple added a new member to their family: four-year-old basset hound mix Millie.
To make sure Millie would fit in perfectly at home the supercouple had brought along one of their other pets, a cocker spaniel named Louie, also a rescue dog. The introductions seemed to go along smoothly enough.
According to the website, “Millie was found without a home and hoping for food scraps outside of a local restaurant in San Gabriel earlier this month.
“Today her luck changed for the better when she was adopted by George and Amal Clooney. They were searching for a basset hound and saw Millie’s picture on petfinder
“It was good news that Millie and Louis hit it off and the happy new family headed home together.”
Geoge, 54, also had another cocker spaniel mix named Einstein, whom he adopted in 2010. The actor told Esquire magazine that he was so keen for the dog to like him – a prerequisite of the home visit carried out by the shelter – that he rubbed meat over himself.
He admitted: “I start to panic that Einstein is not going to like me. So I run into the kitchen, where I have these turkey meatballs, and I rub them all over my shoes.
“He throws himself at my feet and (the lady from the shelter) leaves him with me on the spot. He loves me. I can do no wrong. He follows me everywhere.”
George told People, “We had a beautiful anniversary, and we’re having fun.”
