In the January issue of Vogue magazine, Sophie Grégoire reveals that she is a “dreamer and a romantic.” So when she went on her first date with Justin Trudeau and he said to her, “I’m 31 years old, and I’ve been waiting for you for 31 years,” their love story was sealed and two years later they were husband and wife.
The revealing interview shines a light on Justin’s political achievements and the support he has received from voters and his loving family. Sophie has been by her husband’s side throughout it all and says her role now is to “really stay grounded.” It’s in their strong relationship and bond that Justin finds strength, admitting, “We’re more partners than my mother and father were ever able to be.”

The former TV reporter also opened up about her battle with bulimia, saying, “Time, maturity, therapy, self-knowledge, yoga, meditation and babies,” helped her get to a “healing space.”
Justin and Sophie’s appearance in Vogue comes on the heels of a profile piece in the New York Times. Titled “Trudeau’s Canada, Again,” the 43-year-old politician expresses his hopes and desires for the country and excitement over being prime minster, saying, “I’m excited to be on the world stage. I think people are starting to see that I’m actually reasonably fit for this office."
A few weeks after Justin was sworn in on Nov. 4, the Trudeau family made their first official overseas trip as a family. Joined by two of their three children, Ella-Grace, 6, and one-year-old Hadrien, the happy couple travelled to England to meet with the Queen at Buckingham Palace before jetting off to Malta and Paris for international heads of state conferences.
