Ryan Reynolds shares special message for baby James's first birthday

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively never miss a chance to crack a joke, and their daughter's first birthday is no exception. The private couple, who welcomed baby James last year, kept her date of birth under wraps until now. Taking to Twitter to praise his first born, Ryan, 39, revealed that his little one was born on Dec. 16.

"Happy birthday to my baby girl!" wrote Ryan, before joking: "Sad I lost my virginity. But thankful I have a daughter."

The proud dad, who is keen to raise his daughter out of the spotlight, rarely shares photos of his first-born on social media. He did, however, delight fans when he gave them a glimpse of James' arm and hand.

"Thumb wrestling isn't always fair. Curiously, my hand is the small one," Ryan joked of the Instagram photo posted in May.

It's clear the Deadpool star is nothing but thankful for his little girl. Ryan, who married 28-year-old Blake three years ago, has been opening up about fatherhood.

"I have no problem waking up five times in the middle of the night and changing diapers," said Ryan

"I'm surprised how patient I am with it," Ryan told GQ in September. "I feel like I could sometimes have a bit of a short fuse, but there's just been this weirdly endless supply of patience.

"I have no problem waking up five times in the middle of the night and changing diapers, and as exhausted as you get, I have this stupid grin on my face all the time. And that's not because I have a nanny or something like that. It's just us right now, and I love it."

"I like being a father. I like having a daughter," he added

Like Blake, who is the youngest of four children, Ryan is the youngest of four boys. The couple have made no secret of their wish to have a big family.

"I genuinely like it. I like being a father. I like having a daughter," said Ryan. "I would like to have more kids. You know, it seems to suit me pretty well."
