Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn once had very famous house guests: Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry. The 64-year-old actor revealed the secret to James Corden on The Late Late Show on Wednesday (Jan. 7).
Apparently, the Hateful Eight talent sat between Princess Diana and Prince Charles at the London première of his movie Backdraft in 1991.
“It was an interesting experience at the time!” he joked. Over the course of the evening, the trio got to talking about life and the late princess brought up the issues she had been having with paparazzi.
“I mentioned that we lived on a ranch in Colorado and that it would be a nice getaway [for her]. She said, 'Well maybe some time I could do that.'”
It wasn't until a few years later that Princess Diana contacted Sarah Ferguson inquiring about a possible stay at the home. The Duchess of York is close friends with Goldie.
After working out the details, Kurt says “[the family] came and stayed for 10 days... They had a great time.”
While the Hawn-Russell clan weren’t home while the royals visited, Kurt says their housekeeper Bonnie became quite close to Princess Diana.
“Every Christmas [Bonnie] would get a nice Christmas card from Diana. It was fun.”
