Celine Dion's beloved husband René Angélil to be laid to rest in Montreal

A day after news broke that Celine Dion's husband René Angélil passed away from cancer at the age of 73, the singer has shared a loving obituary to honour his life. "Surrounded by the love of his family and friends," reads a statement posted on the Canadian star's official Facebook page. "René Angélil passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016, on the eve of his 74th birthday. He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man."

The message also reveals that the family will uphold René's wishes by celebrating his life during a funeral service on Jan. 22 at Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica, "where 21 years ago, he chose to marry the one who will remain as the great love of his life."

Following the funeral in Canada, René's family and friends will gather in Las Vegas on Feb. 3 for a special Celebration of Life service at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
