Mark Ruffalo uses Twitter to find his lost wallet and cellphone

When Mark Ruffalo lost his wallet and cellphone in New York over the weekend he didn’t just accept his misfortune and move on – he went on a mission. “APB out for a cellphone in a wallet case out on the streets of NYC in a blizzard. My drivers licence is in there. Reward and signed pic,” tweeted the Oscar nominee. Within an hour, the actor was elated to discover that his missing belongings had been found. “OMG It was just found! That is freaking fast. Thanks for helping me find it.”

The appreciative father of three went on to post a photo of himself celebrating with his daughters, alongside a note to those who found the wallet and phone. “Thank Amenaide and Catherine Brown for finding my phone and wallet! Thanks Brown family for your decency.”

The Spotlight star isn’t the only A-lister to have had an honest bystander come to their rescue. Jessica Chastain also had her brush with heroes this weekend when her grandmother’s dog Livvy went missing. The actress posted an urgent message on her official Instagram account asking for help in locating the beloved pooch. A few days later, Livvy was back in the arms of Jessica’s grandmother thanks to the “guardians angels” who helped get the pup home.

In March 2015, Tom Hanks publicly thanked a New Yorker named Tony who found his credit card. “A guy named Tony found my credit card on the street in NYC and returned it! Tony! You make this city even greater! Thanx. HANX," he tweeted. A few months later the actor returned the favour by tracking down a Fordham University student whose ID he found in a park.

Channing Tatum knows firsthand the panic that comes with losing something in New York. The Magic Mike star quickly tweeted a plea for help after leaving his backpack in a taxi. He even went as far as setting up an email address solely for tips. It was a happy ending for the father of one after a fan located his bag. “To everyone who tried to help and to the good New York Samaritan who found my bag and asked for nothing in return, thank you. Thank you all!"
