Jacob Tremblay patrols the streets of Vancouver during day at work with dad

Jacob Tremblay's acting work has taken his parents to some pretty incredible places, like the Oscars last month and a number of glitzy film festivals, but on Monday it was his dad's turn to return the favour. The Critics Choice award winner was thrilled when his father, policeman Jason Tremblay, took him to work for the day.

The young star of Room, who has more than 325,000 Instagram followers, has shared a photo collage of himself and his handsome policeman father at work. Donning aviator sunglasses, a leather jacket and a Vancouver Police Department cap, Jacob looked like one of the guys.

"I always bring my Dad to my work, but today I went to his!!!" the nine-year-old captioned the photo.

Not only is Jacob adored for his stellar performance in Room, but the young Canadian has also become somewhat of a social media sensation. The youngster's photo scored more than 46,000 likes – but it wasn't as much as Jacob's "super selfie collage."

The pint-sized star introduced himself to several famous faces at the Oscars, including Best Actress nominee Saoirse Ronan, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara and Samuel L Jackson. He later posted a collage of his encounters on Instagram. He also shared an endearing photo with Sofia Vergara.

The Room star met a host of famous faces during awards season.

On the night itself, Jacob was seated next to his parents and behind his co-star Brie Larson. When the 26-year-old was crowned Best Actress, she leapt out of her seat and high-fived and hugged Jacob, who played her five-year-old son Jack in the film.

Taking to the stage to deliver her acceptance speech, Brie thanked Jacob, calling him "my partner through this in every way possible."

While Jacob was not nominated for an Oscar, he did manage to scoop the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer in January.

The actor was accompanied to the Oscars by his parents.

"This is super cool, this is the best day of my life," he said. "I first want to say thank you to all the critics who voted for me. It must be a super hard vote because of all the other great actors in this category."

"I just want to thank my parents. I love them very much," Jacob added, before revealing he would be keeping his new trophy in pride of place in his bedroom – on a shelf right next to his Millennium Falcon.
