Vandal in Victoria renames park after Paul Rudd

By Sarah Walker

Paul Rudd has had a park named after him on Vancouver Island, though it's not by merit of his achievements. In a quirky turn of events, good-humoured vandals seized an opportunity to alter the green space's sign.

The park in Victoria is actually called Rudd Park, but with the help of some scotch tape and white paper it was temporarily transformed into "Paul Rudd Park" on the weekend. Alongside the new wording the pranksters also posted a picture of the Clueless and Knocked Up star smiling in a suit.

An image of the sign was first posted on Reddit before making its way around social media, resulting in some pretty hilarious commentary.

QUIZ: HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW PAUL RUDD'S MOVIES?

One poster said, "Dude, that is the best picture to use of [Paul]... He looks so modest. That park seems really open and friendly. I would go there." Another added, "This is best act of vandalism I've ever seen." And in reference to Amy Poehler's beloved Parks and Recreation character, a third said: "Leslie Knope is gonna be jealous."

Park manager Eva Riccius told a local news outlet that though her team found the sign funny, it couldn't stay marked up.

"It's a funny gag for a few days, but I do think, especially when you read the history of the park, we want to honour that and put it back to its original name," she said. The green space is named after a woman, Martha Rudd, whose son donated the land to the city.

The actor hasn't commented on his newfound fame, but it's likely something he'd love. His pal Jason Segel has discussed the A-list comedian's love of practical jokes (especially in the bathroom), and he had a long-running gag with Conan O'Brien in which he'd play the same movie clip every time he was on his show.

The 47-year-old dad of two can next be seen as Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War and also in the comedy Sausage Party.
