This week, Celine Dion has opened up for the first time about the heartbreaking loss of her beloved husband René Angélil. From their last moments together to her determination to remain a pillar of strength for their three sons, the Canadian singer has shared all with her loving fans. Now, the star has revealed that she regrets not being able to fulfil one of René's biggest wishes.
"He wanted to die in my arms, I cannot live with a regret but this I do,” she told Deborah Roberts during a sit-down interview on ABC's Nightline. "He did not die in my arms but I think he died in my heart,” she added.
René passed away on Jan. 14 following a long battle with cancer. The singer has said that on the night he died she had returned home from her show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace to find her husband asleep. "I didn't want to wake him," she told People. "I should have gone and said, 'I love you and I'm here,' but I don't want to live with that regret. I meant well by not waking him."
Even though she wishes she had been beside him when he passed on, Celine doesn't want the regret to define her, explaining to Nightline, “If I hold on to this, I won't move on. I have to give myself a reason to move on."
