Sophie Grégoire Trudeau poked fun at criticism she and her husband Justin Trudeau have received in the media during a hilarious speech at the recent Press Gallery gala in Ottawa. The mother of three hijacked her husband's speech and proceeded to fire off hilarious comebacks for some of the topics she has received negative feedback on from the press.
“It’s all Canadian. I'm wearing Canadian,” she declared, referring to the fashion frenzy she caused by wearing Oscar de la Renta in the pages of Vogue. Since then, the style star has adhered to a predominately Canadiana wardrobe. The loving couple even recreated their sexy pose onstage and remained embraced for an uncomfortably long time to make fun of their reputation for over-the-top PDA.
No topic was off limits as Sophie addressed everything from her employment of two family nannies to Justin's recent "elbowgate," in which the prime minister inadvertently elbowed NDP MP Ruth Ellen Brosseau in the chest during a heated debate in the House of Commons. To help her husband deal with his "anger management," Sophie showed off a complicated yet calming yoga pose that Justin can add to his regimen.
Finally, an excited Sophie also saw the event as a great opportunity to break into song, the same way she did during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in January. "This is the best chance I have to express myself in song! And you were all so kind to me the last time I sang!” she joked, referring to the mixed reviews she received for her performance of a song she wrote for daughter Ella-Grace.
