Selena Gomez has found herself an ultimate duet partner in seven-year-old Audrey Nethery. The singer sang and danced up a storm with her young fan backstage at her show in Louisville, Kentucky. "Finally got to meet this sweetheart -she owned it fully," wrote the star on Instagram, alongside a video of herself and Audrey performing "Love You Like a Love Song."
Audrey, who suffers from a life-threatening bone marrow condition called Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA), has become famous for sharing adorable Zumba dance videos on social media. She may be young, but the Kentucky native is a passionate advocate for DBA. Audrey shares her journey and provides information awareness to her more than one million followers on Facebook.
Selena and Audrey's meeting has been months in the making after the "Can't Keep My Hands to Myself" singer posted a sweet message on Audrey's Instagram page, in which she praised her performance skills and asked her to join her for a duet. The youngster's mom was quick to reply to the pop star on behalf of her daughter, writing, "Thank you so much Selena Gomez! Audrey is so excited that you came to her page and left her such a wonderful comment. She would love to sing with you anytime!"
Audrey has also met Selena's BFF Taylor Swift.
It's easy to see why Selena was so taken by the adorable singing sensation. Her infectious personality and positive attitude has won hearts everywhere she goes.
During an interview with TODAY, Audrey opened up about DBA saying, "It makes me a little bit short but that doesn't stop me from moving and acting." And no matter what comes her way, little Audrey is taking every hurdle in stride. "You just have to take a breath and say 'I can do this' and then you go out there and then you just do it!"
