Billy Bob Thornton calls affair rumours with Amber Heard 'completely false'

Billy Bob Thornton may star alongside Johnny Depp's estranged wife Amber Heard in the film London Fields, but that doesn't mean the duo had a relationship on or off set. The actor vehemently rejected claims of an affair, telling TMZ that the allegation is "completely false".

The actor, 61, said he never socialised with Amber off set, apart from a cast dinner, and rarely spent time with the 30-year-old on set.

Their relationship was strictly professional, he adds, and he barely even spoke to Johnny either. Billy Bob has also assured his sixth wife Connie Angland, who he married last year, that he has not been unfaithful.

Johnny and Amber are in the middle of bitter divorce proceedings, having announced their split in May. The Pirates of the Caribbean star, 53, claimed that his wife cheated on him with Billy Bob in March last year.

As part of her domestic violence case against Johnny, the actress put forward a photograph showing the names "Billy Bob" and "Amber" scrawled on a mirror in paint. Amber claims that Johnny, who she had only been married to for one month at the time, allegedly wrote the words on the mirror in a fit of rage.

The actress has strongly denied the cheating claims, adding that Johnny also accused her of infidelity with other men.

The pair's shock split was announced in May. Amber filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. Johnny filed legal documents of his own asking the judge to reject Amber's claim for spousal support. The star is said to be worth around £308 million.

Amber's new film, also starring Billy Bob, is due to be released later this year. The pretty blonde plays clairvoyant femme fatale Nicola Six, who has a premonition that she will die by murder. She then begins a love affair with three different men to find out who her killer is.

Billy Bob plays male protagonist Samson Young, an American writer living in London who has had writer's block for 20 years and is now terminally ill.
