Celine Dion on life after losing René Angélil: 'I‘m well because he’s not suffering anymore'

Celine Dion has revealed that in the midst of her grief over losing her longtime love René Angélil to cancer in January she has found a sense of relief in knowing that her husband is at peace. "I am well because he's not suffering anymore," said the singer during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The mother of three sat down with the talk show host following an unforgettable and moving performance on Friday's Stand Up to Cancer telecast. Celine performed her new single "Recovering," co-written by Pink, off her upcoming English album. The emotional ballad is a tribute to her husband of more than twenty years.

Celine performed for Stand Up to Cancer alongside stars like Bradley Cooper.

"The hardest thing is not to lose somebody you love but to see them suffer,” added Celine, who cared for René through two battles with cancer. And even though life without her partner is hard, she is thankful for the special gifts her husband gave her before his death. "It is tough I have to admit. That was his destiny and I still feel extremely fortunate that he has given me three magnificent children.”

The couple were married for 21 years before Rene's untimely death.

Following their heart to heart, Celine and Ellen did what they do best - make people smile. The 48-year-old proved she is more than a singer by showing off her rap skills. Watch the video below!
