Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's split came as a shock to celebrities and fans alike - and it's clearly made an impact on Madame Tussauds, too.

The London wax museum has decided to separate Brad and Angelina's figures following the news of the couple's divorce.

They posted a photo on Twitter, writing: "Following the news that has shocked celebrity watchers worldwide, we can confirm we have separated Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's figures."

Robert Pattinson's waxwork remains between the estranged couple, while the museum also told CNN: "The couple's wax figures, which were launched in 2013, have been split up and are now featured at a respectful distance from each other.

"Angelina is keeping Nicole Kidman company and Brad Pitt is with his several time co-star Morgan Freeman."

An earlier version of Brad's figure used to stand alongside his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston but the couple similarly went through a 'wax divorce' shortly after Brad and Angelina announced they were expecting their first child together.

"They were subsequently separated when they split up in 2005 and Jennifer's figure is now featured in our sister attractions in the USA," a spokesperson said.

This will be Brad's second divorce and Angelina's third. The Maleficent star was previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

On Tuesday Brad and Angelina's split was announced. The actress's lawyer Robert Offer said in a statement that the "decision was made for the health of the family".

"She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," he added.

Meanwhile Brad, 52, has broken his silence saying: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
