Diary of the Week: Nordstrom Yorkdale, Boobyball, AGO Mystical Landscapes gala and more

Nordstrom opened the doors to its second Toronto location as part of Yorkdale's swanky new expansion (neighbours include UNIQLO, Muji, Birks, Canada Goose and Samsung). The splashy party, which saw international supermodels Chanel Iman and Lindsay Ellingson mingling with Russell Peters, 'it couple' Hannah Bronfman and Brendan Fallis, members of the Nordstrom family and more. Guests sipped molecular cocktails and nibbled on impeccable hors d'oeuvres between visits to the 360-degree photo booth and three pop-up fashion shows where models clad in the hottest designer looks used the elevators as a runway. The most fashionable statement? A whopping $215,000 was raised for charity.

Rebel Nightclub, which opened this summer in the former Sound Academy, played host to a tropical celebration for the 15th annual Boobyball. Degrassi stars like Luke Bilyk and Melinda Shankar, actresses Amanda Brugel and Natalie Krill, and more gathered in honour of Rethink Breast Cancer, adding $225,000 to the $4 million pot that the organization has raised for young people affected by the disease. Tiki treats came courtesy of Planta, Kupfert + Kim and El Furniture Warehouse, among others, all washed down with tropical Tito's cocktails or a dose of oxygen.

Toronto Life had Casa Loma brimming with well-heeled guests all gathered to mark the magazine's 50th year. Guests of the lavish soiree bar-hopped to sample tipples from Tromba, Glenfiddich and Veuve Clicquot, among others, before Mayor John Tory addressed the crowd and Canadian singer-songwriter Basia Bulat performed a special set. Meanwhile, Toronto's art-world elite descended on the Art Gallery of Ontario to toast the Mystical Landscapes exhibit at an exclusive gala. Guests were privy to a sneak peek of pieces by the likes of Monet and Van Gogh as well as a custom menu with magical touches.
