Robin Thicke, Ellen DeGeneres, Justin Trudeau and more stars pay tribute to Alan Thicke

Ellen DeGeneres, Justin Trudeau and fellow Canadian actors William Shatner and Jason Priestley are just a few of the stars that have taken to social media to express their sincere sadness over the death of Alan Thicke. The Canadian icon passed away on Tuesday from a heart attack at the age of 69.

Also mourning the Growing Pains star is his loving family, including his son Robin Thicke, who penned a touching tribute to his later father on Instagram. It reads: "My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had. Let's all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son."

Alan's youngest son Carter, with whom he was playing hockey with when he suffered a massive heart attack, tweeted: "Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of its finest. You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time."

Alan's Growing Pains co-star Leonardo DiCaprio shared his fond memories of working with one of TV's greatest fathers, writing, "He knew how to harness the power of the entertainment industry to be a positive influence in so many lives - including mine. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Alan early in my career. He had tremendous class, a huge heart, and he taught me and so many others the valuable lessons about humility and gratitude."

Here, Hollywood remembers one of its brightest stars.

Rest In Peace Alan. 
