Celine Dion celebrates 2016 with highlights video

Celine Dion has marked the end of 2016 by looking back at her busy year. The singer posted a video on social media, in which she shares her career highlights and reflects on the loss of her husband René Angélil.

The four-minute clip starts with news reports of René's death followed by footage from his funeral in Montreal, including René-Charles's touching eulogy to his father. It also recalls the moving memorial service that Celine hosted at her Las Vegas homestead, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, in honour of her husband.

Some other highlights include Celine's triumphant return to the stage in February, her incredible performance at the Billboard Music Awards followed by the presentation of the night's Icon of the Year award and her massively successful residency in Paris, Belgium and Quebec.

The moving retrospective also features never-before-seen behind the scenes footage of the Canadian songstress preparing for her sold-out shows and celebrates the release of her 26th studio album Encore un soir.

CELINE'S BIGGEST CAREER MOMENTS

Finally, one of the singer's biggest career milestones is also highlighted in the video. In October, the 48-year-old performed her 1000th show in Las Vegas. Celine will kick off the new year and a new block of shows on January 17th.

The new video comes on the heels of a holiday message the singer shared with fans just before Christmas. On Dec. 20, the mother of three reflected on her challenging year and shared her hopes and dreams for 2017 in a short clip on Instagram.

"Hi everyone, the holiday season is here again. A time when we remember the happy and the sad days of this past year," said the singer, adding, "I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all my fans for their love and precious support. The holidays are about spending quality time with the people you cherish the most and telling them how much you love them."
