The littlest Trudeau turned three yesterday (Feb. 28) and his proud mom, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, took to Instagram to acknowledge the special day. "Hadrien, my little teddy bear … you are surrounded by love! Happy 3rd birthday!" she wrote in the caption alongside a sweet snap of her little boy.
The family photo shows the toddler receiving some birthday love from his older siblings, Xavier-James, 9, and Ella-Grace, 8. Both his big brother and sister are pictured planting a big kiss on Hadrien's rosy cheeks, as Xavier-James holds out a handmade birthday card. The birthday boy is also excitedly clutching a celebratory muffin.
Just like his father Justin Trudeau, Hadrien is a natural in front of the camera and has been charming the public since the day he was born. His candid, exasperated facial expressions and mop of curls made for adorable photo-ops when the Trudeaus arrived in Washington, D.C. for a visit to the White House last March.
Clearly, his charm runs in the family. Justin was the second child in Canadian history to have been born to a prime minister, his father, Pierre Elliot Trudeau. On the day Justin's younger brother Sacha was born on Dec. 25, 1973 – coincidentally, also his own birthday – then two-year-old Justin greeted a swarm of journalists and photographers waiting outside the front door of Ottawa’s Civic Hospital. As Pierre stopped to chat to media before heading inside with Justin in his arms, the toddler made his first comments to the media.
“Happy Christmas,” Justin said with a wave as he peered over his father's shoulder. “Happy birthday.”
