Watch: James Corden and Anne Hathaway turn pop songs into a romantic comedy

By: Hayley Bradbrook

James Corden and Anne Hathaway delighted fans as they performed a dramatic love story using 10 romantic pop songs on Thursday’s (Apr. 20) episode of The Late Late Show. During the fun segment, the dynamic duo pieced together a medley of classic hits by famous artists including Celine Dion, Jason Mraz, Selena Gomez and more.

The sketch started off with the Colossal star excessively checking her phone as she walked along a quiet Manhattan street singing Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero.” The action quickly moved to an elevator where she bumped into James, who wooed Anne by crooning Linda Ronstadt version of "Just One Look.” The two clearly hit it off, as they embraced one another on the elevator while singing Selena Gomez’s sensual track “Hands to Myself.”

Next came the honeymoon phase of their relationship as they looked deeply into each other’s eyes reciting lines from Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me,” while cuddling in a quaint park. The 34-year-old actress and 38-year-old TV host’s courtship continued as they brushed their teeth together to the tune of Jason Mraz’s hit “I’m Yours.”

Like many relationships, this love story hit a rocky patch when Anne spotted a text from another woman on James’s phone.

Feeling betrayed by James, the Oscar winner drowned her sorrows in a glass of wine while belting out the chorus to Celine Dion’s classic track “All By Myself.” Shortly afterwards, she jetted off to the airport to the tune of John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”

Luckily, Anne’s frustration soon subsided when the British actor raced to the airport to stop her from leaving, using the words of The Proclaimer’s “I Would Walk 500 Miles.” The two Hollywood stars had a heartfelt reunion on the plane, and made amends with a little help from Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.”
