Why Amy Schumer bought a $2,000 mattress for a store employee

Amy Schumer is one generous star! The Snatched actress recently bought a $2,000 mattress for a store employee as a thank you gift for allowing her to use the restroom at the Six Corner Mattress Firm in Chicago.

While the 35-year-old was out jogging in the Windy City on Thursday (Apr. 20), she popped into the mattress store in hopes of using their bathroom. Staff member Sagine Lazarre kindly guided the stand-up comedian to the restroom, unaware that the desperate jogger was in fact an A-list star.

A grateful Amy proceeded to ask Sagine to point out her favourite mattress in the store before purchasing it as a way to thank her for the hospitality.

Sagine later admitted that she didn’t realize until much later that the generous donor was the Hollywood star.

“After she left, I Googled her name. The lady that was right there talking to me is Amy Schumer. It was amazing. Unbelievable,” Sangine explained to WGN News, adding that she still can’t believe that the actress turned author bought her such a nice gift. “It’s amazing, mind blowing. I’m still shocked,” she exclaimed.

This isn’t the first time that Amy has shown her generosity to strangers. Last year in New York City, the actress-producer left a $1,000 tip on a $77 bar bill. The comedian wrote a touching note on the small piece of paper, letting staff members know that she understood what it is like to work in the restaurant industry. “I’ve been there, I get it,” wrote Amy, referring to her time as a waitress in the Big Apple.
