There was plenty of love and tequila to go around at George Clooney's recent 56th birthday blowout! The actor's wife Amal, hosted an intimate surprise party for the Money Monster star at their London home on Saturday (May 6). "Amal set it all up," a source revealed to E! News. The party wouldn't have been complete without an appearance by the couple's longtime friends, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. The 51-year-old supermodel took to her Instagram to share a fun shot of her and her husband tooling around in the Clooney’s yard right before the big surprise. "Country living," Cindy wrote alongside the photo of herself picking fresh flowers, while Rande rode around on a lawnmower. The source noted, "George was totally surprised!"
Inside the intimate party, attended by only George's closet friends, guests dined and sipped on Casamigos. The birthday boy and Rande, who celebrated his 55th birthday on 27 April, were presented with an over-the-top cake in their honour. Mum-to-be Amal had a cake made replicating the Casamigos Tequila bars from their houses in Mexico. The elaborate dessert featured little figures of the business partners standing side-by-side behind a bar complete with mini bottles of their tequila, along with a banner that read: "Happy Birthday Amigos." Rande took to his Instagram to share a picture of him and George posing with their cake, which he captioned, "Celebrating our birthdays @casamigos style. Thanks for the cool cake Amal. #houseoffriends."
Amal, who is currently expecting twins, was not pictured in any of the photos. During the "joint birthday celebration" weekend, George enjoyed a boat ride on the River Thames with Cindy and Rande. Kaia Gerber's mom shared a selfie with her husband and the Hollywood star on board a vessel, which she she jokingly captioned, "We can always count on him for the photobomb."
George's birthday marked his last one before becoming a father. Back in February, the Oscar winner opened up about becoming a parent in his 50s telling Rencontres de Cinema, "My favorite part is, you know, all my friends who are my age, and I have many of them, they're already done." "Their kids are all grown up and away to college and they are laughing," he continued. "We went out to dinner the other night, and it's a table of eight guys and all their kids are away in college, and we are sitting there and they were all being very supportive, 'Everything is going to be great, you're going to love it.' Then it got really quiet, and they all just started making baby crying and the whole table just busted up laughing."
