Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are one competitive couple, especially when it comes time to tell their son Jack his bedtime stories.

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday (May 12), theGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star told Ellen that he gets so “strangely competitive” with Anna while reading children stories to their 4-year-old son that they even challenge one another to see who can entertain their little guy the most.

The 37-year-old actor further explained how they get so immersed in the dialogue and trying to impress one another with their storytelling skills that they forget all about little Jack.

“I’ll read the left page and she’ll read the right page, and I start affecting this little accent for the character and then she’s like ‘oh.’ Then she starts gesticulating and laughing and before long we’re completely like not paying attention to him,” he admitted to Ellen.

The Virginia native also confessed that he was even willing to “call [his] hair and makeup team to come on down” to try and knock Jack’s socks off.

Even though Chris and Anna enjoy their elaborate storytelling antics, the defeated actor admitted that their son simply “does not care.”

One thing Jack does care about is his dad’s new movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and the international press tour he got to go on with his parents. Chris gushed over how having his wife and son with him on the road made travelling so much more enjoyable. “It’s been really nice and great,” he revealed, adding, “I’m able to enjoy the time much more than I would if I was just by myself.”
