Channing Tatum’s daughter Everly isn’t a fan of his movies

By Meaghan Wraya

Sometimes our most honest critics are the ones closest to us, and this rings true even for A-list celebrities like Channing Tatum. Hollywood’s resident male dancer hilariously revealed in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that much to his and wife Jenna Dewan Tatum’s disappointment, his daughter Everly isn’t a huge fan of Step Up. Within 10 seconds of watching the film, Channing said Everly asked to watch a “real movie—I don’t know, like a good one?”

The actor tried to prove the movie’s value, telling his daughter, “It was such a real movie they made like seven more of these!” While Everly struggled to be entertained by her dad’s craft, the same can’t be said for the 22 Jump Street star, who is incredibly impressed by his little girl’s artistic talent. Channing adorably donned a tie painted by the four-year-old herself, and revealed that she’s decorated other pieces of his wardrobe, too, like four pairs of Converse shoes!

His daughter has made appearances on a few of his movie sets, as well—even Magic Mike. The 37-year-old star joked that her dancing may be a little too similar to the male stripper moves in the flick. But he quickly defended himself, saying, “I didn’t teach [her] that!”

It’s been 11 years since Channing and Jenna, who married in 2009, originally met on the set of Step Up. A match made in dancer heaven, he revealed in an interview with Elle magazine that he was hesitant at first as he’d just gotten out of a long relationship. It took some convincing from a friend, he shared, but he always knew Jenna was the one, “That night, I showed up at her hotel room with a sombrero on, and that was it. We were drinking at a Mexican joint and I stole it off the wall.”

The lovebirds were spotted earlier this year vacationing in Hawaii partaking in some seriously envious PDA in the surf. Even a decade later, it still seems like this Hollywood duo just met yesterday. Even back in the day when Channing was struggling financially, Jenna was there for him, “I was broke and couldn’t pay my half of the rent when we were first together. She was basically my sugar mama for six months,” he told Elle.
