George Clooney dishes about his twins’ different personalities

By Meaghan Wray

George Clooney has revealed that his twins already have their own unique personalities! He made the revelation at the Venice Film Festival, where he also opened up about the inspiration behind their names, Alexander and Ella.

While promoting his film Suburbicon, the 56-year-old actor delved into his early experiences of being a new father to two very different twin babies. George shared with ET, “They start out with a personality right off the bat. [Alexander] is a thug already. He’s a moose! Literally, he just sits and he eats,” the star joked, continuing, “[Ella] is very elegant, and all eyes. She looks like Amal, thank god.”

The Oscar winner explained that when it came time for him and wife Amal Clooney to decide on names for their little ones, they both agreed to avoid “really dumb” monikers. Instead, they opted for classic names as a way to simplify Alexander and Ella’s lives as they age. “We figured these kids are going to be looked at a lot and watched and [have their] every move sort of judged, and we wanted them to at least have a break with the names,” he shared. “We looked for some sort of normal names. We didn’t have any great inspiration. It wasn’t Alexander the Great and Ella Fitzgerald.”

Despite settling into fatherhood with ease, the A-list actor is the first to admit that parenting has its challenges. “Suddenly, you’re responsible for other people, which is terrifying. [Amal]’s like an Olympic athlete. She’s doing so beautifully,” George told the Associated Press. The actor went on to say, “Right now my job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit. I really didn’t think that at 56 I would be the parent of twins.” He also revealed some fabulous life advice: “Don’t make plans. You always have to just enjoy the ride.”
