Reese Witherspoon has some expert dating advice for women

By Meaghan Wray

To put it simply, Reese Witherspoon is the embodiment of #GirlPower. The media mogul doesn’t let anything stand in her way, and wants all women to follow suit. In her latest essay for Glamour magazine, the Oscar winner talks female empowerment and dishes up some expert dating advice for all the single ladies.

“Run away from a man who can’t handle your ambition. Run. So many men think ambition is awesome and sexy,” advised the mother of three, who is happily married to power agent Jim Toth.

Reese is also all about creating opportunities for women in Hollywood. She produced and starred in the popular Emmy-nominated series Big Little Lies, and two of her most recent films -– Home Again and A Wrinkle in Time – were both directed by women.

In her personal, heartfelt Glamour essay, she also touched on what it’s like being a woman in the film industry today. She wrote, “I’ve also had studio heads say to me, ‘We don’t want to make biopics about women,’ or more simply, ‘We’re not interested in female-driven material.’”

She continued: “My first go-round as a producer with Gone Girl ? Every studio passed but one. When the book hit number one on the best-seller lists, it was a different story. Women made up just 29 percent of protagonists in last year’s highest-grossing films – that’s a new high, but come on, it’s not even a third.”

Earlier this summer, Reese announced she’d be teaming up with her friend and former co-star Jennifer Aniston on a new TV project. Little is known about the untitled series except that it will explore “morning shows and the New York media scene,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Reese and Jennifer will pull double duty as stars and executive producers on the surefire hit show. In addition to its stellar cast, the series will mark Jennifer’s long-awaited return to the small screen following a two-decade absence. The actress has concentrated on movies since wrapping the tenth and final season of Friends in 2004.
