Serena Williams returns to the court following birth of baby daughter

Serena Williams recently made a triumphant return to the tennis court, just three months after welcoming daughter Alexis. The star, who tied the knot earlier this month, slipped back into her tennis shoes in support of the Yetunde Price Resource Center and Williams Sister Fund – the latter being the foundation that she founded with her sisters after their eldest sibling to a drive-by shooting 14 years ago.

The 36-year-old champion, along with her talented sister Venus Williams, played a few rounds while co-hosting “A Family Affair, Presented by Oath” in Washington. Sadly, the aftermath of gender-based violence hits close to home for the Williams sisters, which is what has motivated them to make a difference in their community. At the event, her sister, 37, made a heartfelt statement: “Violence has hit very close to home in our family and families of loved ones and it’s not easy, but through it we become stronger and also through it we’re able to help other people.”

Serena’s loving husband Alexis Ohanian cheered her on from the sidelines and posted a photo of his wife warming up on the court with the caption: “For a great cause. Great community. #AFamilyAffair for the Yetunde Price Resource Center. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the fundraiser.”

The two said ‘I do’ a few weeks ago during a star-studded ceremony in New Orleans. Their wedding had a Beauty and the Beast theme and it was a ceremony fit for a princess – complete with Disney music and a Belle-inspired gown. Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian West and Beyoncé were just a few of the famous faces who watched as Serena married her Prince Charming.
